Тhe Differences and Advantages of using Silicone Foam Strip and Insulating Tape

Insulation tape is an elastic material that can withstand various environmental conditions like heat, cold, dry conditions, and moisture while silicone foam is a thermoplastic that will soften at higher temperatures. The softening point for standard silicone foams is 60 to 70 degrees Celsius. Such properties make silicone suitable for many uses in most environments. Silicone foam also retains elasticity even after prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures ranging from -40 to 120 degrees Celsius.

Undoubtedly, one of the most pronounced advantages of silicone foam strips is their ability to withstand very low and high temperatures without damage. SSTR can operate effectively even in extreme conditions between –60°C and 200°C, without compromising their ability to retain seals in the long run. This makes them all the more suitable in areas like rail transportation and inside medical devices where temperature variability is a common factor. While insulating tape is undoubtedly useful, there is an element of thermal stability that does not come in such tape.
